01

Company information in AI tools

A customer email, an API key or internal project details can enter an AI workflow. Practical checks help teams follow your rules for what they share.

02

Instructions inside documents

A supplier PDF can contain text intended to steer a review. A familiar filename does not establish that its contents are trustworthy.

03

Instructions inside skills

Skills can contain instructions that try to expose confidential information or conceal an action. Checking the supplied content helps bring those attempts to light.

What to know before you start.

Can we use Cortex Guard with ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini?

Yes. Browser protection works on supported flows in those websites through the TextCortex extension for Chrome and Edge. You can keep doing your AI work there; a signed-in TextCortex account, eligible covered seat and enabled browser policy are still required.

What can it detect, including PII?

Browser checks can look for prompt injection, PDF-specific hidden instructions, recognizable secrets such as API keys, and supported personally identifiable information (PII) patterns such as email addresses, phone numbers and certain national or tax identifiers. Confidential topics use administrator-configured keyword matching, not semantic or paraphrase detection. Stored-content checks look for prompt injection; these browser detectors do not run on every item stored in TextCortex.

Does Cortex Guard check skills and agents?

It checks supported skill instructions and package content for prompt-injection risks. This can help identify harmful instructions in material an agent might use. It does not monitor everything an agent does or provide comprehensive malware analysis, dependency auditing or sandboxing. Not every agent, integration, standalone prompt or existing stored file is covered.

Does a clean result mean the content is safe?

No scanner detects every attack. A clean result means no risk was detected by the configured checks in the supported content inspected. Cortex Guard helps reduce risk alongside access controls, security policies and careful review; it does not guarantee safe content or prevent every leak.

Can we start without blocking?

Yes. Off performs no checks. Monitor reports findings without blocking. Enforce applies configured rules. Warnings may allow continuation with a reason where policy permits; redaction and review requests are available only where supported. A clean result does not guarantee completely safe content.

What happens when a check flags content or cannot finish?

Enrolled content remains unavailable while pending, scanning or quarantined. Pending can also indicate an incomplete scan or an access requirement. Clean means no prompt-injection risk was detected in the inspected content. Released means an administrator explicitly approved the scanned revision, not that it received a clean result. Changes invalidate previous clearance. Your organization's failure policy determines whether the submission stops or continues. An incomplete check is not a clean result. Unreadable, unsupported or partially scanned content must not be treated as fully checked.

Which formats and surfaces are covered?

Supported browser readers handle text-based files, PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and supported text entries in ZIP or skill packages, subject to extraction and scan limits. No OCR for images or image-only scanned PDFs. The dedicated hidden-instruction check is PDF-specific, not a universal Office hidden-text detector. Unsupported websites, native desktop apps, APIs, background agents and other browsers are outside this browser coverage.

Who is eligible and how is it priced?

Cortex Guard is a separately priced add-on, not automatically included in the standard subscription. Billing is based on purchased organization seats, including unassigned seats. Content coverage applies to owners with active, non-trial covered seats. Protection requires eligible covered seats, workspace enablement and confirmed paid access. Request a demonstration to discuss requirements and pricing.
